A Texas man is accused of robbing an ATM repairman and stealing nearly $100,000 from a Capital One machine last October.

Ulyssius Tedrick Deron McGee, 31, from Houston, was one of three men accused of aiding in the robbery of $99,434 from an ATM at the Capital One bank on West 7th Street in Frederick, according to charging documents.

A Frederick County grand jury indicted McGee on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft and second-degree assault.

Court records show that Dairian Jermaine Lewis, 32, and Lee Johnson III, 42, both from Houston, were issued arrest warrants on Oct. 31, 2024, in connection with the same robbery.

Lewis pleaded guilty to robbery and is serving a 15-year sentence behind bars.

Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and is serving an 8-year sentence.

McGee was issued an arrest warrant on Nov. 19, 2024, and is being held without bail. According to court records, his next scheduled court date is a preliminary hearing on July 3.

A message left at the law practice of McGee's attorney on Monday was not immediately returned.

Charging documents say that on the morning of Oct. 22, 2024, two men wearing gloves and masks approached an ATM at Capital One.

At the time, the ATM was undergoing maintenance and was opened up as the repairman worked on it. According to the repairman's recount of events in charging documents, one of the men approached him from behind and said "give it up."

The repairman told police that he backed away from the ATM for fear of his safety.

The two men were then described as reaching into the ATM and taking four ATM cassettes, which are containers that hold and dispense cash.

Police confirmed the stolen amount as $99,434 with a manager from Capital One.

Once in possession of the cassettes, the two men were seen by the repairman getting into a vehicle with a Maryland license plate and driving away. The Maryland tags had been reported stolen one day earlier.

Before calling 911, the repairman closed the ATM and drove a short distance from the bank.

Frederick police found the vehicle seen by the repairman in a parking lot near Wormans Mill Court after receiving a call for suspicious activity in the area. The vehicle had a Texas registration.

Upon opening the rear door of the vehicle, an officer "observed several crisp $20 bills laying on the rear passenger floorboard," according to charging documents. The stolen Maryland tags and an ATM cassette were also found.

Charging documents state that video footage from a business next to where the vehicle was located shows three men exiting the vehicle shortly after the robbery.

Utilizing video surveillance footage and finger prints collected from a cup left in the vehicle, police identified Lewis as one of the suspects. Johnson was identified as a suspect through social media checks and video surveillance.

A second fingerprint found on the cup belonged to McGee, according to Maryland State Police lab results referenced in charging documents.
